DO YOU NEED A MINDSET RESET?

Life over the past 18 months has definitely tested my strength, resilience and patience in soo many ways…lockdown, home schooling, working from home with three kids, anxiety for the unknown, fear for the future, loss, navigating life with a sick father and a pregnant sister…3 months ago my 1st love, my rock, my role model, my Father, left us for eternity and 6 weeks ago my Sister welcomed the healthiest and most perfect baby into the world – it’s fair to say it’s been the hardest months of my life, both physically and emotionally…At times i felt such a heavy weight on my shoulders that i just couldn’t seem to shake it. How could i keep it together? How could i figure this one out?

We are only as healthy as our mind is. When our thoughts are unhealthy, we tend to succumb to insecurity, uncertainty, overwhelm and worry.During those times, i known i had to hit the “reset” button around my mental space – a mindset reset to help get my headspace back into a calmer, healthier place…and i found this tools that i use on a regular basis to get grounded and to reset my mindset…

Calmness

When your thoughts are all over the place, it’s difficult to see things as they really are. Create a self-care tool kit of calming practices you can lean in on to settle your mind and center yourself so you can recognise when you are overthinking or worrying about details that don’t matter. My calming toolkit includes deep breathing, getting outside in nature, yoga and crystals.

Clarity

After my father passing, i was – and still am – struggling to find balance, strength, answers and most importantly, guidance. I knew i had to keep it together for my family, my loved ones, my household but i was and still am so lost and empty that i needed a light to show me the way or at least to give me a pointer or a clue of where to start my life without him. It was not before one of my morning meditation sessions that the word CLARITY crossed my mind. This word came so unexpectedly that i took with with all my strength.

Having a clear idea of what’s important yo you is key. So much of our brain space gets taken up when we are unsure of who we are and what we want. When you get clear on your goals and values, you can remove the overwhelm that comes from uncertainty.

Compassion

Compassion allows you to accept yourself, set healthy expectations and trust your own journey.

Movement

Exercise gives us a dose of feel-good endorphines and i definitely feel like a better version of myself when i get moving. Whether it’s Pilates, Yoga, walking or dancing – movement helps to clear your head and feel accomplished.

Mediation

These are not rules. But if you can take two or three things from this list and make a conscious effort to work on them, you will begin to reset your mindset. Every now and then check-in with yourself. Ask what your mindset is like. When you bring awareness to what’s going on in your head, you can comeback to the current moment and refocus…ask yourself what you need in the moment to help with your mindset.

What tools or mechanisms do you use to get grounded and reset your mind?
